RMAC's Neighborhood Parent Group
What it is: Neighborhood is a new ASD Parent Group at RMAC.
Neighborhood is an “old school” concept...getting back to the values of what being a neighbor is all about. The term “Neighborhood” is a fun way to describe its purposes of this group, which are:
a) To come together as neighbors
b) Make new friends
c) Support and mentor each other
d) Learn and share new information
e) Make plans to support our neighborhood
f) Work together to improve our neighborhood
g) And most of all....to have fun!
What we'll do:
Each month, Dr. Rydell will lead our Neighborhood group trainings. These trainings are designed to discuss and learn about current, relevant and evidence-based practices and strategies related to ASD intervention. Nuggets of practical information will be offered based on Dr. Rydell’s 30 years in the field of ASD. We will also invite speakers and leaders from the community regarding timely issues and topics. Neighborhood meetings are designed to exchange positive ideas, provide support to each other, and develop strategies to take home to our families. This will be a pro-active group that helps and mentors our “neighbors”.
In addition to the trainings, a mission of Neighborhood will also be to assist our neighborhood and the community at-large with projects as a way of giving back to our communities, schools and local efforts. We are looking for intelligent, creative, positive and community-minded moms and dads who want to Make a Difference for our families, neighborhoods and community.
Updated topics will be posted on our website and Facebook page; look for the Neighborhood announcements.
When:
Neighborhood will meet the first Friday of every month at Rocky Mountain Autism Center, from 12:00 to 1:15 p.m. A light lunch will be served.
Who:
Neighborhood is meant for parents or adult family members only...no exceptions! Professionals will be provided other training opportunities at RMAC, so please do not extend these invitations. Please make other arrangements for baby-sitting as this will be an adult-only training and group time. All parents of children with ASD are welcome.... We are all Neighbors!
